Surprise Party in Room 1

Moon and Miniver have been working hard since Mia had taken Draco out on their date.

Decorations (in the colours Miniver had suggested instead of Moon's rainbow idea) are hung in the room. Crepe paper braids of orange, greyish blue, and green streak the ceiling. Moon's put up little paper decorations of cakes, balloons, and cartoonish animals dancing. Along with the cardboard balloons, there are huge groups of orange, grey-blue, and green helium balloons scattered all over.

On a table, with a colourful tablecloth depicting very happy cats and dogs partying, is the cake Skill had artfully created for Draco. It's wide sheet cake; the white icing is the basis for the artistically piped images of Martin and Dart flying over a huge forest full of winding paths. The forest ended where the words 'Happy Birthday, Draco!' were written in flowing script. It was the sort of cake a tarot card would make.

Moon giggles as she sets a stack of gifts (all from her family for the birthday boy) on the table beside the cake. She turns to Miniver and grins.

"I hope he's surprised," she says proudly.

It was definitely bright and cheerful and there's glitter everywhere, including on Miniver and Moon.

"You'll learn. And when you do something wrong, she'll be quick to tell you."

The little wolf was the ideal pet. A pet that could tell you how you were screwing up while nipping at your ankles.

"You'll have to give her a name. She was the only white one born, and I thought of you when I saw her. The little white ferret with his big, white wolf."

"I assure you, I was very careful when I was working with the sharp, scary clay."

She giggles, no longer able to keep a straight face.

"I've told you already that you worry too much over nothing, right?"

Draco thought of what name would be good. But the ferret comment made him pause.

Sharpened glance at Moon, "...Who told you about that? I didn't even tell Miniver or Mia."

"Oh," He let go again.

Draco replied, "Maybe, but you bring that out in me. I worry about you sometimes."

She gives him a smile.

"I know quite a lot about you, Draco. Served you right, you know. But I think a fox is more you. At least a fox can give a wolf a run for her money."

"And I certainly appreciate it, but I'm pretty sure you can take clay off of your list of things to worry about."

She puts her arm in his.

"So? I'm afraid there's no magic to it. And any muggle could have done it, really. But do you like it?"

"It was Crouch's fault really." Draco replied as he focused on the tiny pup again. She gave a tiny puppy yawn, and seem to snuggle against his hands for warmth. You have to be utter stone or evil not to melt at that.

Draco was neither.

"I'll be able to speak to her in my fox form too. Alhena might like that." Following the tradition of star related names. It was a star in his birth constellation of Gemini. Since the constellation Draco didn't really have anything quite appropriate in star names.

Moon gives a quiet squee.

It was all so cute!

"You needed a conscience. She will do until you find your own." The wolves were like that. Guardians. Guides. Nags. "She'll be big. Like Mons and Mare."

"I thought maybe it was carved," Draco remarked honestly as he looked at her.

He then smiled, "I do. It's beautiful. Thank you." He went to find a shelf to set it on.

And then spun her around to deliver a grateful kiss.

Her name meant shining or strutting. So it worked.

Draco was kind of focused on the wolf cub so it took a moment for Moon's words to sink in.

"What? And oh, that big. Well, would make sense." The cub has closed her eyes again, and had fallen asleep.

Mia might never get used to him and his sudden kisses.

But she doesn't think she really wants to.

She's certainly not protesting this one, that's for sure.

"I think it's a perfect fit. And the rest of the family sent gifts to help prepare your rooms for her when she's ready to come here," she explains. "Had to give her to you first or else the food and water dishes wouldn't have made much sense."

He seemed to be forgetting the others in the room as he kissed her deeply. His hands were around her waist right now.

Well now, that's just rude. The others all standing there watching while Draco and Mia are having all of the fun.

Her hands are cradling his face and, after a bit longer....

Okay, a little longer than that....

Really....

....she gently pulls away.

"Draco, the party," she whispers to him.

"Mmm? Oh right. Should get back to that."

"I could excuse myself for a little while though if you want? Some place private to talk more?"

She eyes him.

"This isn't talking."

"Of course it would've been, which is why you have her first and then all the other stuff later!"

The family had sent a bed for the puppy, food and water bowls, collar, brushes, and toys.

"You'll be all set for her."

"There can be? And it's communicating... in a way," he wheedled some.

A very physical way if that.

"Oh excellent then."

Draco studied the wolf cub a little longer, and then quietly asked Moon, "Do I have to wait a month?"

"Well, I can't deny that that's true, but the party first? There hasn't been any music yet."

She wonders how well this next part would go over.

"I had asked Rabastan if he would dance with me at the party when I invited him. He looks like he could do with some fun."

And to make sure he knows-

"I'll dance with you too, of course."

"She can't be away from Mons long. When she wakes up, she's going to be hungry. You planning on nursing her?" Moon asks, giving a little poke to Draco's rather flat chest.

"Oh there's to be music? How nice. And I don't mind you dancing with my uncle. Not like you fancy him after all, right?"

He then added to make sure, sort of kidding, "...You don't, do you?"

He added, "And maybe more than dancing later?" Pause.

"Like a walk somewhere?" He amended shortly afterwards.

Draco's skin briefly paled to an almost grey as he realized.

"Oh no, of course not." He glanced down at the cub, and then reluctantly handed her back.

She accepts the sleeping puppy back into her arms.

"You can visit her anytime you like. Or I can bring her for visits with you so you keep bonding. Bonding's very important."
