It's late in the morning when she wakes up.

Moon stretches slowly, languorously, enjoying the warmth of bed and covers and body next to her own, its arm slung over her--

Wait.

She sits up carefully, gently shifting so his arm rests across her lap instead of across her body, and stares in disbelief.

"Mons," she hisses quietly.

The white wolf appears, distinctly unhappy about being woken up. Yes, Mistress?

"When did I fall asleep in here?"

You did not. You fell asleep in his lap on the sofa in the bar, and he was kind enough to bring you back here so he could actually sleep himself.

Moon thinks on this.

She fell asleep with Indy.

There is some internal flailing at this knowledge as she stares down at him.

She thinks on this seriously.

"I'd be willing to try it."

He's catching on, though. Moon doesn't taste like everyone else. She experiences taste like sight and sound, so it's really the colour that's important.

Very important.

Moon kicks the covers off, uncomfortable in the heat and blankets.

"Right now?"

Not really ready to get up yet, Indy looks vaguely disappointed as the majority of the bed clothes ruck up and slowly slide off the end of the bed. He then chuckles as they rise again with a disgruntled Mare underneath them.

"No. I'm comfortable."

And she is, half sprawled on him.

Moon giggles at Mare.

"Serves you right, bad puppy," she admonishes him with another giggle. She tilts her head up to look at Indy. "He got Mons in a family way, you know. When I wasn't looking."

Indy smiles contentedly now that bed time has been extended.

"What d'ya mean?"

"She going to have babies," she grumbles.

Mare huffs and plops back down, nuzzling the sleeping Mons.

"Which means I have to do something with them once she weans them." Moon doesn't like having too many responsibilities. And babies are a responsibility.

"Oh, wow. You were being literal."

Both eyebrows are raised now, and there's a certain gleam of enthusiasm under them.

"Not her first ever litter, I'm guessin'. Do you normally release them into the wild, or find families for them?"

There's a trace of hope attached to the latter option.

"I can't just shove them out in the wild cause they talk, like Mons and Mare." She huffs. "It'd be dangerous to let them out in the wild, used to people. I was thinking... since this place has so much magic... I might offer the puppies to people here. I mean, I would meet with anyone who wanted one so I know who they're going to and that the sentient isn't a dangerous asshat, but if I am going to find them homes, this would be the best place to find them, right?"

"I'd think so, yeah. There must be plenty of elligible folk around here who'd be only too happy to take one off your hands. "

He shifts his eyes up and away.

"You know the type. Kind people; people who've had wolf-like dogs before; people who have other people who can take care of the pup when they go off on adventures..."

Moon turns a little in his lap to look up at him with curious eyes.

"And you'd happen to know of someone like that?" she asks. "I'd take your personal opinion on someone, a vouching for their character."

While Moon dislikes responsibility, when it's foisted upon her, she does right by it. She doesn't want to just hand over puppies to just anyone. They have to be good people.

People who would appreciate them.

Indy squints at her, trying to ascertain whether she's teasing or whether she really doesn't make the connection. He's not sure, so he continues laying it out in fairly blatant terms, thus catering to both scenarios.

"'Kay, well, the first person I have in mind is kinda laidback and easy-going. But he's trustworthy and pretty reliable with it. And he has experience with various pets, including a dog."

"Not sure I'm the best person to vouch for him though."

She really hadn't though he was talking about himself, but now she starts to put it together and her lips twitch into a smile.

"I don't know... if you're really close to this person, I think you'd know him well enough to vouch for him."

Moon pokes him lightly in the side.

"I can't think of a better person to have one of her puppies, Indy. And since you and I are... close... I can keep an eye on the pup but not have to, you know, take care of it."

"I was thinking that too. Best of both worlds."

Indy adopts a highly gratified smile.

"Heh. Glad you approve of my choice."

"Did you really think I wouldn't?" she asks him with a grin.

Mons and Mare have been with her since the beginning. A long, long time. They've gone with her everywhere, through adventures and dangers and everything. She wouldn't know what to do without them.

But she knows how easily the wolves endure, and knows how perfectly suited Indy is to care for one.

"Not for a second," Indy admits, scruffing her already sleep-mussed hair.

"But it's always nice to be proved right."

Moon laughs and bats at his hand.

"You're very sure of yourself," she muses, continuing to smile. She thinks it's good to be so sure. After all, she's never been that certain, and so it's a refreshing thing to experience.

Then her eyes glitter with mischief. "So tell me, Professor Jones, do you take all the girls who falls asleep on your lap to bed with you?"

Indy doesn't really bite.

"Hasn't happened before, actually. I'm normally the one who's passing out."

He gives a non-committal shrug.

"I guess it'd depend how close we were, and if they had a bed of their own."

She closes her eyes and cuddles against him contentedly.

"You mean you have no stamina?" She's teasing him. "Shame. Must be getting on in years, hmm?"

"Bah. Don't you start."

He mock-scowls at her.

"Adventures are physically demanding. You gotta take sleep whenever and wherever you can."

There's more laughing.

Then she calms down and just lays there, an amused smile on her face.

"I think I'd like to see one of your adventures, since I'm pretty sure they're far different from mine."

He chuckles softly.

"Heh. The Lego train incident wasn't enough for you?"

She glowers playfully at him.

"I don't think I can ever go back there, you know. It was a mass casualty!"

But, oh, it had been fun.

He looks vaguely ashamed.

"Yeah... um. Sorry 'bout that."

"Destructive things tend to happen when I'm involved."

Moon beeps his nose.

"I've done worse in worlds, so don't feel too badly."

Oh, has she.

"Oh, I don't," he reveals, smirking slightly.

"It wasn't irreparable damage after all."

[lady_moon]

"Very true," she agrees. "If we can piece back together two cars relatively quickly, I'm sure they had the train back up before dark."

And, hopefully, the castle wall.

"Still. I think I'll avoid that world for a while."
