Indy's Suite

She knocks before entering, but it's quiet.

Well, it's late, it should be quiet.

Moon pads into the suite on her bare feet (she briefly wonders if she's ever owned shoes) and makes her way to Indy's room. The wolves behind her, she stops just over the threshold and turns to them.

"No. You two are staying in the living room. And don't go terrifying the other residents here, all right? Just... be good. Like... normal puppies or something."

Mons sits and tilts her head. Why can we not sleep at the foot of the bed as we did last time?

Because she and Indy intend to make puppies. Mare proudly states this, nuzzling Mons' muzzle.

Moon feels herself flush painfully. "We are not making puppies, Mare. You two are enough for me, thank you, and... just... no!" Gods of the multiverse, she felt so silly. "Go sleep by the sofa and behave."

Mons and Mare trot off, their voices distant to her as they talk between themselves, and she sighs and closes the door to Indy's room.

Puppies?

No.

No puppies, no kitties, no chicks, no calves, no babies.

Moon sheds her clothes, folding them neatly as she does, and chooses to conjure a creamy white slip to wear. She wasn't shy or modest by any stretch of the imagination, but she didn't want to just sit nude in Indy's bed.

That just seems tasteless to her.

She pulls down the sheet and blanket on one side and crawls in and looks around the room as she hadn't the last two times she'd been in it. It was an Indy room, she decides. Very much like him and very much like the rough and laughy drink he'd given her.

Slowly, she smiles, nestling down into the bed where she could smell him so easily.

Oh, she very much likes him, she decides as she waits for his bartending shift to end.

He smiles appreciatively at her kind words.

"Not too bad."

"Sorry I'm a bit later than I said. Had some bratty under-aged kid try and get beer from me, then make fun of my name. I had to set him straight on both fronts."

He rolls his eyes long sufferingly and starts to unbutton his shirt.

"The things I have to put up with."

His gaze comes to rest on her delicately-covered form, and he allows her to take over without protest.

"You think I actually get paid for this gig?"

"I signed up as pro bono back in the day 'cause I didn't need the money. And I'm pretty sure everything around here's been comp'ed since Mike ascended to Head Barman."

[identity profile] henry-jones-jr.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Indy looks a little puzzled.

"Like... an attack sign? That sprays stuff?"

[identity profile] henry-jones-jr.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmmm. Not a bad idea. I bet Mike'd go for it."

Indy chuckles at her.

"I can handle annoying customers normally though. Not reacting and not giving them a payoff is the best strategy."

[identity profile] henry-jones-jr.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Indy nods slowly, not objecting to the further disrobing at all.

"Yep."

The confirmation doesn't need any explanation as far as he's concerned.

"That reminds me, actually. It's his birthday on Sunday—April Fools day. I need to be on the look-out for his usual set of pranks. And I guess I need to rustle up a gift."

"Something cooking-related. Rare comics? A new Squeakins?" He sighs. "I dunno. I'm pretty crap at thinking up original gifts..."

As the loosed pants drop to his ankles, he breaks off, his line of thought completely de-railed now that her admission has sunk in.

"Wait... what? You've only ever received one gift in your entire life?"

He looks incredulous.

[identity profile] henry-jones-jr.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
"There doesn't have to be an official reason to give gifts, y'know? People can give them to show their appreciation, or to just make the recipient happy."

Indy is frowning now, as he stoops to pull off his socks. He mentally resolves to right this injustice at some point in the near future.

Indy follows her and slides under the top sheet on the opposite side of the bed. Fortunately, the side she has claimed is in line with the side that Indy put her on when brought her up last week. i.e. not his side. There may have been 'discussions' if she'd decided to switch.

"It's not a case of wanting," he says, propping himself up on one elbow.

"More... deserving."

[identity profile] henry-jones-jr.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure you are."

He reaches up and teases a strand of her hair through his fingers.

"Just sayin..."

[identity profile] henry-jones-jr.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Indy lifts an eyebrow at her shift in position.

"Y'know, in most cultures you just made it loud and clear that I'm not getting any tonight."

He sounds amused.

[identity profile] henry-jones-jr.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
Smiling very fondly, Indy extends his index finger and touches it lightly to her lips.

"Ssssh."

"You're doing just fine."

[identity profile] henry-jones-jr.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
"I know. Mare and I had a little chat before I joined you."

He shakes his head, still smiling.

"It's not really an appearance thing, sweetheart. But I know you don't have any desire to have children."

"I don't either, just for the record." Not currently anyway.

[identity profile] henry-jones-jr.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
"You might be right, I guess. Sorta makes sense."

Indy nods at her rationale, taking the last statement the correct way.

"There's a good chance that neglectful fathering could run in my family. I'm not quite as obsessive about my work as dad. But..."

He wrinkles his nose and shrugs.
