Surprise Party in Room 1

Moon and Miniver have been working hard since Mia had taken Draco out on their date.

Decorations (in the colours Miniver had suggested instead of Moon's rainbow idea) are hung in the room. Crepe paper braids of orange, greyish blue, and green streak the ceiling. Moon's put up little paper decorations of cakes, balloons, and cartoonish animals dancing. Along with the cardboard balloons, there are huge groups of orange, grey-blue, and green helium balloons scattered all over.

On a table, with a colourful tablecloth depicting very happy cats and dogs partying, is the cake Skill had artfully created for Draco. It's wide sheet cake; the white icing is the basis for the artistically piped images of Martin and Dart flying over a huge forest full of winding paths. The forest ended where the words 'Happy Birthday, Draco!' were written in flowing script. It was the sort of cake a tarot card would make.

Moon giggles as she sets a stack of gifts (all from her family for the birthday boy) on the table beside the cake. She turns to Miniver and grins.

"I hope he's surprised," she says proudly.

It was definitely bright and cheerful and there's glitter everywhere, including on Miniver and Moon.

Idle Chatter

There's time before Mia brings Draco along for the guests to talk. Mingle and mix, as people are wont to do.

The Surprise!

The lights are shut off and everyone takes their places.

It amuses Moon, as she crouches giggling.

All the could do now was wait for Draco's arrival.

Cake & Gifts

Moon gives Draco a gentle shove towards the cake.

"Skill make it especially for you!"

She wasn't aware of the whole 'candles lit on the cake for the number of years you've been alive'. Just be happy it's all one flavour and colour!

When they were done with the whole cake thing, he could open his presents.

Dancing

As she had promised Mia, there is music.

After presents and food and preening, Moon turns on the music Miniver had chosen for dancing. Of course, the little poet owed her a dance...

Tom's heard of surprise parties, of course. But he's never actually attended one. Hiding in the dark waiting to ambush someone tends to have less than positive connotations for him.

And yet, here he is. Hiding in the dark. Maybe he ought to throw in a Jelly Leg Jinx just for the hell of it.

No. That would not be an appropriate birthday surprise.

It would be bloody funny, though.

Tom gave Draco one present already. It was a small thing, a token of their friendship. He has another one for him, as well. This one's a little more special.

Door was called away at the last minute, Gavroche is busy with lessons (Tom will not mention they are with a rat called Kennis), and Ingress might be collected later.

But Tom is here now, complete with sharp grey suit and Slytherin tie, in honor of their shared heritage.

As soon as he spots Moon [how can anyone miss her?] he heads straight over to her side and gives her a kiss on the cheek.

"Hello there my lady," he says, smiling. "Where is the guest of honour?"

Hiding in the dark would make Rabastan nervy too, and for pretty much the same reasons.

He's not thinking of any of that because this is a birthday party for Draco, and he fully intends to have fun. Dangit.

Oh cool, he muses to himself, looking about the dark room for a sign of Draco's arrival. I can see everyone. Even in the dark. Marvy!

Moon grins and beams.

"Mia has him out on a date. We wanted to be sure we could have everything ready. It has to be a surprise." She takes his hand in hers and almost bounces. "I'm so happy you came!"

No need to ask him twice, as he's following her lead.

"How utterly innocent and under-handed at the same time. You'd think he was turning her into a card-carrying member of Slytherin House."

The grin widens.

"Of course I came. It's a special, important day for the young lad."

She bounces some more.

"The family sent him gifts! I was so surprised!"

There's a lovely little blonde, with an idle but bright smile, who's nodding to people who note her, and sipping a purple drink.

Skill was, after all, making tonight one of those "I had an idea" extravaganza's and Star planned to enjoy it all.

The most fun of being a Tarot is being able to do little things no one would ever expect. So Star is actually sitting above the entrance door on the air, and she is waiting to shower down some harmless but brilliant star light sparkles on the birthday boy the moment he comes in.

Right. This could be interesting. At some point, Slytherin had found himself back in Milliways and receiving an invitation from someone to attend a surprise birthday party for Master Draco.

Slytherin is feeling just a little at odds with himself, which might be evident in the obvious stand-offish behavior.

She's, not the biggest in the room but she is, a big fan of Draco and so she's grinning cute and small, holding a wrapped gift in her hands.

Though she's absently looking toward the cake.

She's really missed home.

Star loves to dance and she's got her toes already over the line of the dance floor and she looking for a ready partner among those standing next to her.

She dances most her life, but having a partner to dance with is a rare joy.

Footsteps can be heard approaching and a soft voice says, "You know, I don't believe I've ever been to your room before."

What Mia really means is this: Everything better be ready because Draco's coming!

Luckily for all, Draco was speaking loudly in his bragging voice, "Well, here's your chance. I designed it much after some of the rooms back in the Manor. Just mind the area with potions."

He went to open the door, and it creaked open.

"I'll get some lights on in a moment," he added as he walked into the room.

At the exact moment the door opened and the cries began, Star giggled and set off a fountain of bright star lights twinkler's falling across the two people walking through the doorway.

No one told her to say surprise, so she did it her own way and giggled when they yelled it.

Draco was taken aback by the yells, and the shower of starlight twinkling on him and Mia.

He blinked in surprise at the small group of familiar faces. Family, and friends who might as well be family. People he loved and cared about.

He glanced back at Mia, and then asked, "Hello? What's going on?"

Mia can't hold her joy in anymore.

She reaches up and gives him a kiss on the cheek.

"Happy birthday, Draco."

Draco turned toward her again, and then the group again, "Oh that's right... it is today here. I had lost track." He blinked a few more times. Nothing like the parties that his parents had thrown. They certainly never would have used those colors... What the? Odd combination.
