Tarot Beach Party

There are those of the tarot who know how to set up for a party.

Ruin had spent most of the afternoon building the bonfire. He has carefully made it much in the way he would have with the villagers of his mortal life when they would celebrate the harvests. Charity, Unity, and Skill had spent most of the day setting up food, both their sorts of foods and the sorts the sentients would be expecting.

Moon watched it all with rapt fascination, her eyes on the marshmallows Skill told her firmly she isn't allowed to touch yet. But they're white and fluffy looking and Moon is curious. Mons barks at her, warning Skill, and Moon is shooed off.

It's Fortune who puts out blankets, spread all over the beach area for everyone to use. Moon watches her family set up for a party, for guests... real guests who are coming simply to come instead of for answers. She watches Fortune set down a large stack of very warm looking towels, and she grins.

Swimming. Damian will like the swimming.

Her wolves run up and down the beach in excitement, and Moon knows it's time.

Disappearing back to Milliways, she sets it up so people can come and go as they need to, pleased with herself and her family.

"As do I, I live not far from it in France. To be a listener is precious thing and not enough people truly understand what it means."

Damian nods his agreement. "You have asked me about myself, and yet you have said so little about yourself in return." It is a subtle hint that he would like to learn more about her. It isn't every day that you get attention and conversation from a diety.

"What do you wish to know and I'll tell you."

Damian is quiet for a few moments and buys himself a bit more time by motioning Demeter to follow him so they can sit by the bonfire instead of stand before the tableau of food which he cannot eat.

"I admit, I have only a passing knowledge of Greek myth. I know you are recorded as the goddess of bountiful harvest and fertility, but other than that and the story of Persephone, I know very little. I know nothing of your relations with the others on Olympus. Any fact behind the myth... something books would not tell me if I were to research you."

"Kore and I have not lived with the rest of our family for quite a long time. After what happened with her, I could not stand the sight of some of my brothers. That is how we came to live in France."

She watches the fire, looking older since her family makes her so tired at times.

Damian decides family isn't the best topic to pursue.

"Why France?"

There. That's taking it a slightly different direction.

"Its a land that's loved especially Provence and we're still slightly known there."

Damian nods. It's as good a reason as any.

"Forgive me, but, what is it like? Is your existence much different than a human's?" The 'how' and 'why' goes unspoken, but it is clear in the curiosity of his eyes.

"Its longer so I've seen how mortals will destroy themselves over small things and their joy in great ones."

There is a small, sad smile from Damian.

"Ever are we our own worst enemies." He may not be mortal in the traditional, human sense, but he still counts himself among them anyway, because he is very much aware of his own mortality.

"That is rather kind of you."

Benevolent gods and goddesses are preferable to malevolent ones... or apathetic ones, for that matter.

As happy as they will allow themselves, Damian thinks to himself.

"We try. When we find we have something worth fighting for, we try."

Another small smile.

He hasn't known much love and hasn't felt much of it either. Nathaniel is the first to love him in a very long time. That the love is at a depth between friendship and lovers doesn't bother either of them, so it is very much cherished by them both.

Damian falls silent beside the fire, not feeling the need to counter what Demeter has said with any words of his own.

She smiles and watches the fire, Damian is clearly a complex man but hopefully one finding his way to more joy.
