Surprise Party in Room 1

Moon and Miniver have been working hard since Mia had taken Draco out on their date.
Decorations (in the colours Miniver had suggested instead of Moon's rainbow idea) are hung in the room. Crepe paper braids of orange, greyish blue, and green streak the ceiling. Moon's put up little paper decorations of cakes, balloons, and cartoonish animals dancing. Along with the cardboard balloons, there are huge groups of orange, grey-blue, and green helium balloons scattered all over.
On a table, with a colourful tablecloth depicting very happy cats and dogs partying, is the cake Skill had artfully created for Draco. It's wide sheet cake; the white icing is the basis for the artistically piped images of Martin and Dart flying over a huge forest full of winding paths. The forest ended where the words 'Happy Birthday, Draco!' were written in flowing script. It was the sort of cake a tarot card would make.
Moon giggles as she sets a stack of gifts (all from her family for the birthday boy) on the table beside the cake. She turns to Miniver and grins.
"I hope he's surprised," she says proudly.
It was definitely bright and cheerful and there's glitter everywhere, including on Miniver and Moon.

Yes, she very much adores Miniver. Whether he knows it or not, he speaks her language rather fluently.

Date: 2007-06-10 06:47 am (UTC)When the music slows some, she slows their own dance.
"You're so innocent," she tells him, watching him the way she tends to watch people. "It's quite endearing."
Re: Dancing
Date: 2007-06-10 06:49 am (UTC)He's seen his share of the world, and more than many. His innocence is a twisted, desperate thing. A childlike quality clung to because the alternative is too terrible to comprehend.

Date: 2007-06-10 06:51 am (UTC)"Are you too tired, Miniver?" she asks.
Re: Dancing
Date: 2007-06-10 06:52 am (UTC)His hands rest there lightly, like butterfly wings... or like mice feet.

Date: 2007-06-10 06:56 am (UTC)"Yet. It's a small word, but a very important one. Draco isn't happy yet. But he can be. You can keep your innocence... or, you can let it go and accept the weariness of life." Moon smiles gently. "Yet is the key in the lock, that lets something come... or lets it go."
She's a tarot card.
Did you expect any other sort of answer?

"It's your decision. Which is better for you?"

Date: 2007-06-10 07:11 am (UTC)"Just because he is the first thing you found doesn't mean he is the only thing to find. It's not enough because you aren't given what you crave. How do I know you crave it? Because you seek it in the dim corners of the rooms where the boys gather, in the faceless coupling Robbie introduced you to, and the way you cling to the hope that Mia will... go away," she finishes in a whisper.

Date: 2007-06-10 07:16 am (UTC)"No," he repeats, "I don't. Draco needs her." And if Miniver needs something else... if...
...well.
Miniver needs Draco, in some form, in some way, and in whatever way that is, Draco is enough.
Re: Dancing
Date: 2007-06-10 07:17 am (UTC)"But he doesn't need you."
This bothers her.
A lot.
